When you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect:

• Name
• Email address

When you browse the site, we also collect limited technical data via analytics, such as:

• Pages viewed and actions taken on the site, such as clicks and events
• Approximate location (country or city level)
• Device and browser information
• Referrer and campaign source, including UTM parameters
• IP address (may be processed as part of analytics and security logging)

We use your data to:

• Send you email updates when new content is published
• Understand how people use the site so we can improve it (analytics)
• Maintain site security and prevent abuse

We process newsletter signups based on your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.

We process analytics based on legitimate interest in understanding site performance and improving the website.

We use Listmonk (self-hosted on our Hetzner server in Finland) to store subscriber details and manage the newsletter, with Amazon Web Services SES as the underlying SMTP delivery service. Your name and email are processed for delivery, unsubscribe handling, and suppression lists.

We use the following analytics tools:

• Cloudflare Web Analytics for traffic and performance insights. Cloudflare may process technical usage data to provide analytics and security services.
• Rybbit, a privacy focused analytics tool we run on our own server in Finland (EU). It is cookieless and does not follow you across other websites. It does not collect directly identifying information for standard analytics, and this data stays on infrastructure we control within the EU.

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to protect form submissions on this site, including the newsletter signup form, the comments form and the Keyword Relevance Filter and its enquiry form, from bots and abuse. When you interact with one of these forms, Turnstile may process technical signals such as your IP address, browser characteristics, device information, and limited behavioural data to assess whether the request is likely from a human or an automated source. Cloudflare provides this service under its Turnstile privacy policy.

Most of the free tools on this site run entirely in your browser. The Keyword Relevance Filter is different, so here is exactly what leaves your device when you use it.

Keyword Relevance Filter

When you use the Keyword Relevance Filter, your CSV is read in your browser. Only the query text and the business brief you type are sent to our Cloudflare Worker, which passes them to TypeSafe AI (the Jev classifier) to label them. Your clicks, impressions and any other columns stay in your browser, and the labelled results and exports are built there too. We don't store the queries, the brief or the labels on our server. TypeSafe processes the text on servers in the United States, says it doesn't train models on it, and describes its own retention in its privacy policy.

To keep a free service usable, the tool checks your browser with Cloudflare Turnstile before a run and keeps a small usage record on Cloudflare. That record holds a keyed hash of your IP address rather than the address itself, a hash of the run token, and counts of the queries you've sent. It expires at the end of the UTC day and is deleted after that. It doesn't identify you and it doesn't include your queries.

If you use the larger batch enquiry form on that page, the name, email address, company and approximate query count you enter are stored on Cloudflare and passed to Snippet Digital, my agency, through Zapier so the team can reply. Your file, queries, labels and business brief are never attached to an enquiry. We keep enquiry details until you ask us to delete them.

Your data may be processed outside the UAE because some of our service providers use global infrastructure. Our own analytics now runs on a server in Finland, so that data is processed within the EU. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and limit access to what is needed to run the site.

• Newsletter data is kept while you remain subscribed.
• If you unsubscribe, we may keep your email in a suppression list to make sure we do not email you again by accident.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics data is retained according to Cloudflare's retention settings.
• Rybbit analytics data is stored on our own server in the EU. It does not identify you directly and can be deleted on request.
• Keyword Relevance Filter usage records (hashed address, hashed run token and query counts) expire at the end of the UTC day. Queries and business briefs are not stored.
• Larger batch enquiries sent from the Keyword Relevance Filter are kept until you ask us to delete them.

You can:

• Unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email
• Ask for access to the personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct or delete your personal data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers needed to run the newsletter, analytics and the free tools, such as Amazon Web Services (SES), Cloudflare, Hetzner (which hosts our newsletter and analytics servers in Finland), TypeSafe AI (query text and business briefs from the Keyword Relevance Filter, for classification only) and Zapier (which passes larger batch enquiries to Snippet Digital).

Our analytics tools (Cloudflare Web Analytics and Rybbit) are cookieless and do not store tracking cookies on your device. Cloudflare may still set limited cookies for performance and security. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

We take reasonable steps to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we aim to use appropriate safeguards.
